9/13/2020 0 Comments Stop Doing thisSTOP DOING THIS...... I'm talking about cold pitching in the dms! Seriously, this has to stop . I'll be the first to admit I was taught to do this in 2015 when I was with a direct sales company they gave us scripts and told us to dm people on our friends list ..ekk ..I got rejected, ghosted and blasted for doing this! Sometimes, I did get a sale but never a lasting customer. Along the way, I learned some amazing ways to have authentic conversations with my ideal clients..so I'm gonna break it down for ya ! 1. Know who your ideal client is Knowing your ideal client is critical to making your marketing efforts work. Truly knowing your ideal client and being able to speak to them is going to catapult your marketing campaigns. Seriously, this was a game changer for me. I use to believe I needed to collect "100 nos" and let the numbers work for me. This did sometimes have success bc well the "numbers worked for me" but when I started to truly understand my ideal client I learned how to speak to her( yes her ) . I can guarantee you that if you are reaching out 100 times to an ideal client the numbers are going to look/work way better. 2. Focus on building relationships You want to focus on building authentic relationships. Especially when you are reaching out to your ideal client on social media. Have the intent to truly get to know the person. I can't name a time where you shouldn't be trying to build authentic relationships..there isn't a short cut to this..this is part of the foundation. 4. Use social media etiquette..PLEASE Stop being rude on social media! Seriously, would you walk up to someone on the streets and hit them straight with a sales pitch or start reading a script to them? If you answered yes ..please stick around be we have work to do. If you are on social media I want you to leave thoughtful relevant comments with the intent to build relationships. Respond and engage with stories, share post you like etc. and once you finally have built a real relationship you may go about your sales process. Please DO NOT follow unfollow, gather a spike in followers then unfollow all of them, leave comments irrelevant to the post, comment with a sales pitch, or dm people you haven't ever interacted with a sales pitch. It's rude periodt. 3. Show up as an expert in your field You want to identify as an expert. You have a wealth of knowledge about your industry and should be using that knowledge to educate your customers/audience. This will make you stand out as an industry leader and build trust with your audience. 4. Collaborate Collaboration can help expand brand reach, bring in new customers, and build strong business relationships. There are many ways you can collaborate on social media. Such as story take overs, giveaways, brand ambassador collaborations, shout-outs, guest speaking, blogging, podcast interview etc. You will only be limited by your imagination in this category. Be Authentic The key to successful social media marketing is to be true to who you are, and transparent with your product/service. By being genuine online you will attract an audience that appreciates your content and are more likely to become paying clients. Author: Sarah IrvinFounder of Powerhouse Coaching & Consulting
